Friday morning..

I take a brief look at the clock on my office wall – just a few more hours of work before I can start the long weekend!

My first well-deserved holiday for a long time. That's why, yesterday, I was so excited and full of anticipation that I already packed my suitcase.

THE ARRIVAL ALONG THE PEARLY, VIRIDIAN WATERS OF LAKE WOLFGANG
is a real sight for sore eyes.

Oops.. got caught up in conversation, didn't pay attention to the satnav and ended up on a detour through the picturesque village of St. Wolfgang. My partner in the passenger seat can't get enough of it.. a stylish boutique selling traditional Austrian garments on the one side, an inviting café with a patio on the other. But we don't have enough time for that now, because I can't wait to see our Hotel Cortisen.

I already spot the new façade from a distance.. I stop the car in front of a spacious entrance area with a large glass front. I'm really excited to find out what the inside looks like! I found it difficult to make up my mind when booking, because all of the rooms seemed to look different. In the end, we chose a new Premium Double Room on the third floor, with a south-facing balcony and a heavenly lake view.

As we walk through the hallway, I already notice the many colourful pictures – and with its own individual design, our room is a far cry from mainstream hotel rooms. On our balcony, I can stretch out on a comfortable seat and browse through a booklet that I picked up at reception, containing lots of information about the hotel.

Great.. but what's that?

My Hotel Cortisen has its own wooden rowing boat which we can rent at any time, and we can even ask for a picnic basket to be provided as well! That would be just the thing for the end of a relaxed day during our break on the lake.. let's take the wooden rowing boat and paddle out onto the lake..

Even during rain and thunder, we would have enough entertainment to keep us busy – such as watching films the retro way. I've already discovered the DVD player in our room, and I am now reading that the library has a selection of several hundred DVDs for rent – excellent! My partner will probably choose one of the many novels, illustrated books or magazines instead, which are also available to browse free-of-charge.. there's something for every taste!

We spend the evening enjoying the wonderful selection of local delicacies out on the sunny terrace.

Even though this is a warm night, we end our day in the cosy lounge area by the hotel bar. Here I also love the successful mixture of old and new styles, and I am sure that I will take some of these ideas home with me for our own four walls.
